Selling Timeshare

The most straightforward, and safest, way to sell your timeshare week(s) at Dona Lola is the Macdonald Resale programme but you are free to use any resale company, or you can sell privately or transfer ownership to a relative.

When choosing a resale company be very wary of any that offers you a high resale value, if it sounds too good to be true it probably is. Whatever you do, do not use anyone who telephones you saying that they have a buyer and all you need to do is pay a sum up front - don't fall for it! Always look for a resale company that does not charge high up front fees, most reputable companies do not ask for this or just charge a small admin fee.

If you sell privately, remember that Macdonald Resorts will require you to send them your owner certificate with a transfer fee and they will send a new certificate to the buyer. It is unlikely that the buyer will wish to pay you until they receive their certificate but then how can you be sure that you will get paid? If you do sell privately do use an intermediary such as a solicitor just as you would when selling a house.

When selling do be realistic about what price you hope to get, resale values are generally much lower than the Macdonald list prices.

If you cannot get the price you want, why not consider holding on to your weeks and exchange through the RCI or Interval International exchange programmes, and do look at Options by Macdonald Hotels and Resorts although this means investing even more in your holiday ownership and relinquishing your voting rights!
